Lechlade railway station served the small town of Lechlade in Gloucestershire. The station was on the East Gloucestershire Railway line between Witney and Fairford;[1] it was built where the line crossed the road to Burford, 0.7 miles (1.1 km) north of Lechlade.

Background

The station was opened on 15 January 1873.[2] It had one platform, a stone-built station building, a signal box, a goods shed, and a cattle dock. During the Second World War the line was busy with traffic for RAF Fairford, so the Great Western Railway added a passing loop. The loop did not bypass the single station platform, and only freight trains could use it.

The station closed on 18 June 1962.[2] It was demolished and the site is undeveloped.
